The establishment of the Association of Regional and Urban Developers in Hungary
The idea of establishing the Association of Regional and Urban Developers in Hungary was conceived among the participants of the "Meeting of Regions" conference held on September 19-20, 2002. This conference was organized as a professional gathering for graduates of the University of Miskolc in the field of regional and urban development management. During the conference, the participants realized the need for a professional association that could serve as a forum for addressing the common problems faced by professionals active in regional and urban development. This association would coordinate the collective efforts of these professionals, who are qualified in regional and urban development, in professional, scientific, and public life.
As the regional development policy becomes increasingly important with the completion of the European integration process, it is essential to prominently display the opinions of professionals in the field of regional and urban development.
Objectives of the Association
The objectives of the Association are outlined in the charter adopted at the founding general assembly held on October 24, 2002. According to the charter, the Association is ready to welcome as members all those with higher education qualifications in relevant fields, represent their interests, and provide a forum for their professional opinions. Within the framework of its activities, the Association places special emphasis on promoting the professional and social recognition of regional and urban developers, organizing conferences and further training, and assisting in the development of domestic and international relations.
Operation of the Association
The officers coordinating the work of the Association perform their duties as a voluntary commitment, without honorarium or expense reimbursement. The regular members of the Association pay a modest annual fee of 1000 HUF to cover the costs associated with the operation of the Association.
Supporting members of the Association can be Hungarian and foreign individuals and legal entities who contribute to the work of the Association, especially in organizing conferences, further training, and professional study trips. The Association also participates in grants related to its activities to supplement the financial support from its members.
